What a website costs in 2027, with real numbers
The question is simple and almost nobody answers it with numbers. The honest answer: it depends on three things, who builds it, what the site has to do, and who looks after it once it is live. Below are the market ranges and, at the end, our exact prices.
The three pricing models
Do-it-yourself platforms
Wix, Squarespace and their relatives usually cost a few dozen lei a month and look like the cheapest option. The real price is your time: you build the site, you update it, and when something breaks, support is a generic chat. Enough for a hobby. Rarely enough for a business that lives on new customers.
The freelancer
In the Romanian market, a presentation website from a freelancer usually starts at a few hundred lei and reaches a few thousand, paid once. It can be excellent work. The risk is not the price but what happens after: many freelancers hand over the site and disappear, and a year later there is nobody to change a price or install a security update.
The agency
Agencies usually work from a few thousand lei upwards, and projects with dedicated design easily reach tens of thousands. You get process and a team, but for small businesses that budget is rarely justified, and maintenance is usually billed separately, by the hour.
The costs nobody tells you about
The domain: a .ro usually costs 40-80 lei per year, wherever you register it. Check one thing only: that it is registered in your company's name, not in the name of whoever builds your site.
Hosting: from a few dozen lei per month upwards. For turnkey offers, ask explicitly whether it is included and for how long.
Maintenance: the cost everyone discovers late. A site that is not left to rot needs security updates, fixes and content changes. Billed by the hour, those hours frequently exceed the site's original price within 2-3 years.
Changes: swapping a photo is free only until handover. After that, every change has a fee, unless a subscription covers it.

Starter: 1,000 lei setup + 500 lei per month, for a presentation website of up to 5 pages. Business: 2,500 lei + 1,000 lei per month, with a page for every service. Pro: 4,000 lei + 1,500 lei per month, fully custom, in three languages. Minimum commitment 6 months, -10% paid annually.

The questions to ask whoever builds your site
Whose name is the domain registered in? The correct answer: yours.
What does a change cost after launch, and who makes it? If the answer is vague, the site's real price is vague.
What happens if we stop working together? The site, the domain and the content must remain yours.
Is the price published anywhere? If every client gets a different price for the same work, ask yourself how yours was calculated.
